Favorite Find

www.etsy.com/shop/BlackEyedSusanShop

This is one of My favorite new finds, lots of times I look for great things to sell in my Etsy store,  but she's mine-I hope to use her to display my re-purposed jewelry!  Found in Buffalo, MN at my favorite shop-Second Hand Rose!

Brown Paper Packages tied up with String

its a wrap....I spent way to much time but finally have everything wrapped....I used vintage photos of my dad, (this will be our 2nd Christmas without him)....everyone gets a little sentiment to reuse and remember!

Christmas Shopping LOCAL Junk Style

pintrest

Christmas shopping was not looking like this.....

so I decided I need to try something new....SHOP LOCAL-because a gift should really be something that You are HANDPICKING, and should be something you really would  love the person to have...PLUS Christmas shopping should be enjoyable, right? So I headed out to the quaint little main street town that we live near, Osceola, Wis.-this is what I found!  I think my mom will LOVE it-she's been looking for some new pieces for her kitchen!

When you shop with local merchants, more of your money stays close to home; supporting the parks, recreation centers, libraries and other things that make your community a great place to live!

REPURPOSING: Vintage Sheet Music Wreaths

WHIMSICAL wreaths and ornaments , they make such great gifts, so easy to personalize, and inexpensive to make.

SUPPLIES:
vintage paper (the older and grungier the better-books or sheet music
 scissors
tape and or staples
Embellishment~like old jewelry, Christmas balls, wine corks, glitter....use your imagination and personalize!

My favorite part(of course) is hunting for the "junk" to make these-antique shops, Goodwill, and garage sales are great for finding vintage sheet music.

Most Wonderful time of the Year....part II

HOME....cozy, warm and safe~I love being HOME, especially during the Holidays.

the foyer is very "eclectic" metallic mixed with rustic

Dinning room~mostly rustic and earthy the windows overlook the woods and lake~I  don't  have window treatments in this room-the view is too beautiful!
Doesn't everything looks amazing in a jar?

couldn't part with my gorgeous bittersweet (that I  spied growing in the ditch on my way home on day)~but I think it works?Orange can't just be for Halloween.

I drooled over this cabinet a few months ago at an occasional sale nearby...when I went back this month it was still there-yipee~now its mine! Can't wait for my kitchen make-over, fresh-up coming SOON!
Tons of space for display~work in progress~ideas are spinning! I'm always looking for space to stash my BlackEyed Susan Shop inventory....(cute Egg Nog set still in stock!)

adorable tin that I found at a local occasional sale, love using old tins for fresh bouquets,,,I just love picking up flowers at Trader Joes and arranging them in unique containers.
a touch of whimsey!
this is a very special luminary~the cute kid walking his cow, in his speedo, is my daddy~who is now looking down on me from heaven, he could see the beauty is everything, loved "junking" with him!
I made this picture for our holiday Le Garage Girls sale, but was actually pretty happy when it didn't sell~color works PERFECT for our family room- It's a project that I pinned and actually made!

This little tree holds all the boys favorites that we have collected throughout the years,  even as teens the still fight over who gets to put the snowboarding santa on the tree....used a tartan plaid cooler for the base (what a great junk find that is-still works great for summer picnics!)
Stay safe this Holiday Season, take time to be home, and just BE. Cherish your family ~ Susan

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

A Favorite auction find, a fabulously shabby vintage rocking horse. Listed in my Etsy store, BlackEyedSusanShop

on the dinning room tablescape I used the candle holders that I already had, but filled with snow and pretty candles and put greens with glittery pine cones on a piece of salvaged barn wood.

This is one of my FAVORITES, a crusty rusty old urn, did a trade with my dear friend Missy- Missy, Conni and I do an Occasional sale in Stillwater, MN called  LE GARAGE GIRLS!

love using silver, gold, browns and bronze, mixed with rustic! Antlers and deer heads who would have guessed, but I just love them.

Our tall and skinny "Charlie Brownish"tree found at the cutest tree farm in Lakeland, MN.

The Holidays are truly the most wonderful time of the year, it gives me a chance to decorate and use some of my "junk" that I have been collecting all year.

Taa daa -that's it, my 1st blog entry....it only took me several hours, ok days, grrr- I have a lot to learn.... now a ton of laundry and cleaning to get to, why do days off go so fast???

xoxx Happy Holidays~Susan

I grew up in a big farmhouse alongside a creek and sparkling pond, I have so many wonderful memories, but one of the very best is when my dad surprised me with my very own red playhouse, complete with a dutch door and window boxes, I would spend my days making it beautiful, picking fresh flowers, rearranging furniture, and "shopping" around the farm for new pieces.... I am forever CHASING JUNK~Obsessed with decorating and making everything around me beautiful. I am a wife, mother, sister, friend, and PICKER. I love to shop at estate and garage sales, flea markets and auctions~hunting for funky, whimsical and unique treasures. I love mixing and old and new, junky and fancy to make fresh fun new pieces. Beautifully decorated homes or the most pulled together looks are ones with a mix of old and new-collected over time. I love the idea for re-using, and re-purposing-being creative and thinking outside the box!
