Bridal Shower At The Farm~Farmhouse Chic

Late last summer My darling niece and goddaughter married her sweetheart.  My sisters, mom and I had the honor of throwing her a bridal shower at one of her favorite places in the world, Grandma and Grandpa's farm.  Heather is now a urban loving, cosmopolitan girl full of wanderlust~but as most of us have realized no matter how far you travel, or where-ever your life takes you, your heart strings always pull you back to the farm.
The cutest couple!
We were lucky enough to have the shower on the most amazingly sunny and blue sky summer day.  We used vintage pieces for the decor, mostly with things we already had, old tins for flowers, vintage ball jars for flowers and candles, old bikes, lawn chairs-you name it...basically all my favorite things!
lots of shabby chic touches.

flowers from the farmers market arranged in tins, Kelly s homemade jelly, housewife invitations.

banners, banners!

my sweet mom serving lemonade and iced coffee, kept cold in a old washtub, unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the food(busy serving) but we pulled together a bunch of vintage cake plates and miss-matched china.

everyone dressed lovely for the occasion

we outlined the area with a string of aprons....probably my favorite thing-love the corn field in the back ground, the chairs all have handmade aprons (lovingly made by her mom) that guests could have as a keepsake.

possibly the next bride~and she is dreaming of a barn wedding!

My photo
St Croix River Valley
I grew up in a big farmhouse alongside a creek and sparkling pond, I have so many wonderful memories, but one of the very best is when my dad surprised me with my very own red playhouse, complete with a dutch door and window boxes, I would spend my days making it beautiful, picking fresh flowers, rearranging furniture, and "shopping" around the farm for new pieces.... I am forever CHASING JUNK~Obsessed with decorating and making everything around me beautiful. I am a wife, mother, sister, friend, and PICKER. I love to shop at estate and garage sales, flea markets and auctions~hunting for funky, whimsical and unique treasures. I love mixing and old and new, junky and fancy to make fresh fun new pieces. Beautifully decorated homes or the most pulled together looks are ones with a mix of old and new-collected over time. I love the idea for re-using, and re-purposing-being creative and thinking outside the box!
